3D animation is the digital three-dimensional display of images, the movement of which adds a vivid, realistic and at the same time entertaining tone to the final outcome, as it is reminiscent of cartoons and digital games.
For this reason, it is considered as a powerful learning tool, which can be used:
- To alert the users and offer them the incentives to conquer new knowledge, through the vivid and attractive representations that can be provided. Especially when used at the beginning of a course, it predisposes the users positively that they are going to learn through a pleasant process.
- To clarify a tricky concept or show a complex process. Specifically, it enables the users to experience each step / action of a process in a direct, vivid and comprehensible way, in a short time, without tiring them with extensive verbal explanations.
- To present a product, its parts and how to use it through the impeccable visual and realistic imaging, as well as its characteristic immediacy.
Moreover, with 3D animation, the information is presented in such a way that helps the users to easily retrieve it from their memory, as it is visualized and put in a specific context.
However, in all educational researches, the appropriate pedagogical design is highlighted as an essential prerequisite for the expected learning results to be achieved. In SQLearn each 3D animation script is designed to meet the needs of the relevant course, as well as the learners’ needs, taking into account not only their prior knowledge and experience, but also the different ways the adults learn.
