We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone: our accreditation from the Panama Maritime Authority. This esteemed recognition authorizes us to deliver a suite of online STCW (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping) courses, affirming our commitment to upholding the highest standards in maritime training. In addition to this accomplishment, we have also been approved as a subsidiary training center of Macosnar, a distinguished Panama-based maritime training organization. This partnership underscores a shared vision of promoting excellence and enhancing safety within the maritime sector.
Promoting Safety with Online STCW Courses
Our newest accreditation enables us to offer a variety of essential STCW courses through our advanced online training platform. This move is designed to make high-quality maritime training more accessible to seafarers worldwide, ensuring they are thoroughly prepared for their responsibilities at sea.
The available STCW courses include:
- Security Awareness: This course provides vital training for all seafarers to enhance onboard security measures, equipping them with the knowledge to identify and respond to potential security threats effectively.
- Alcohol and Drug Prevention: This course aims to identify and prevent cases of substance abuse, promoting a safer working environment and supporting the overall well-being of seafarers.
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR): Focused on safety procedures and social responsibilities, this course ensures that seafarers understand their roles in maintaining safety and adhering to living and working regulations while at sea.
- Company Security Officer (CSO): Designed for designated Company Security Officers, responsible for the security of ships and their crews, this comprehensive course covers the regulatory requirements and best practices for managing ship security.
“We are thrilled to join forces with Macosnar and expand our training offerings to the maritime community,” said Spyros Gkoumas, CEO at SQLearn. “Our new accreditation from Panama reflects our dedication to enhancing the skills and safety of seafarers worldwide. We look forward to adding more courses in the near future to meet the evolving needs of the industry.”
STCW Panama Courses: Blending Online and Physical Training
In addition to our existing courses, we also received provisional authorization to offer maritime training that combines both theoretical and practical components. This authorization allows us to deliver comprehensive courses through our online platform, where the theoretical components can be completed remotely. However, practical competencies must be demonstrated in person to ensure that seafarers acquire the necessary hands-on skills.
The courses under this provision include:
- Ship Security Officer: training for those tasked with overseeing ship security, focusing on both theoretical knowledge and practical applications.
- Crowd Management on Passenger Ships: essential for managing crowds effectively during emergencies, this course will cover techniques and procedures for maintaining order on passenger ships.
- Crisis Management and Human Behavior on Passenger Ships: this course will prepare seafarers to handle emergencies and understand human behavior in crisis situations.
- Training course for instructors: aimed at individuals who will be instructing others, this course will provide best practices in training and education, ensuring that instructors are well-equipped to deliver effective training.
Paving the Future of Maritime Training
Our recent accreditation and expanded course offerings mark a significant advancement in maritime training. By leveraging online platforms, we will be setting a new standard in maritime education. With the approval of the Panama Maritime Authority, we will be able to support the ongoing development of maritime professionals worldwide, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the challenges of the modern maritime environment.
