Carrying solid bulk cargoes involves serious risks, such as reduced ship stability, capsizing, fire or explosion, and damage to ship structures. The IMSBC Code provides guidance about the necessary practices and procedures to be followed and the appropriate precautions to be taken in the loading, trimming, carriage, and discharge of solid bulk cargoes when transported by sea.
