Here are the four basic STCW courses:

3. Elementary First Aid (EFA): The course provides fundamental knowledge for delivering first aid for common illnesses or injuries onboard until professional medical help is available.
4. Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities (PSSR): A comprehensive module aiming to raie awareness about safety procedures, pollution prevention practices, interacting effectively with team members aboard ship, understanding chain of command and enhancing communication skills.

It’s important to note that while these are the most foundational STCW courses necessary for all mariners, there might be additional specific trainings required depending upon a seafarer’s duties on board.
