The “Brave Dolphin” project takes advantage of the multiple benefits of Virtual Reality Technology to provide an innovative training tool for the shipping industry.
In the framework of the project, a Virtual Reality application will be developed for the training of seafarers on emergencies that may occur on board. This application will include four (4) interactive emergency scenarios and give the user a sense of presence in the simulated environment in which he will be encouraged to interact with, offering an exciting and safe learning experience.
This new innovative training tool will provide a user-friendly environment that allows the user to immerse and interact with a virtual world that facilitates access to education. This application will allow the maritime sector to modernize its training procedures and evolve into a safer and of course more efficient sector, making it an inspirational example for other industries to follow and be encouraged to adopt this technology for the training of their personnel.
The project is supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism 2014 – 2021 in the frame of the Programme “Business Innovation Greece”.
Project Aim:
Create an innovative training tool for the maritime industry with the use of VR technology that will:
-
- Prepare seafarers to better face emergency situations onboard
- Reduce the risk of onboard accidents, fatalities and environmental disasters that occur onboard due to human error
- Reduce costs related to crew training on safety issues
